I recently attended Australia's first 'Afterlife Explorer's Conference' in Sydney held over the Australia Day long weekend ... I must admit that this is a topic which has interested me most of my life, even as a young child and I was happy to hear speakers sharing their experiences from very different vantage points on the subject of the Afterlife, each one of them with their own personal beliefs & unique journeys, each one sharing a message of hope for anyone who would be open to the poignant messages from 'beyond' our world as we know it.
There were Researchers on Past Life/NDE's/Consciousness, Spiritual Mediums, Healers & those who had experienced their own NDE's (near death experiences), a Spirit Artist, Animal Whisperer & Journalist who had once been a skeptic but is now a believer. There were those who had lost people very dear to them, yet are still connecting with them now from the spirit world, willing to share with us the gift their loss had given them & the truth that there is something after we leave here ... and last but by no means least, my teacher and mentor Peter Smith who shared with us his passion for his work 'Life between Lives' (based on the work of Michael Newton) and his own groundbreaking work on Quantum Consciousness which he launched officially on the last day of the conference .. So I have to ask, 'Why don't we talk about the Afterlife more'? ... For the longest time I have always found it odd that we talk about every other facet of life, the pending birth of a new baby, the toddler years, the teenage years and all the challenges that come with this for some, the adult years and the stresses we face as we learn to be responsible for our own lives, our own relationships, our own health, our own finances etc etc ... we talk about marriage, we talk about divorce, we talk about sex, we talk about politics, we talk about illness ... are you getting the picture?
I once read somewhere that the only 2 things we can absolutely guarantee in this world are 'death & taxes' ... well we even talk about taxes!
I guess I wanted to write this post to bring awareness to the fact that 'death' is just another part of (this) life ... and it deserves it's own space in our conversations. It may not be a topic of light conversation, yet I believe it is a very important one to have with those you love. We never know at what moment we will be called to go 'home' and instead of having fear around it due to it's apparent finality (which it isn't) ... let's bring it out in the open, let's find out what is next by sharing & listening to each other, by reading & sharing the experiences of so many others, let's talk about it more! ... and when finally we are called home we can go with a knowing that only pure love awaits & those that are left here for a while will be able to let us go with lighter hearts and a true knowing that we will meet again.
I do not take this topic lightly, and I apologise if this post in any way offends the reader ... My only intention in writing this is to make our journey here a little easier ... a little lighter ... (this) life is too short ... tell those you love that you love them every day, forgive others, forgive yourself & remember that we are all going to the same party in the end ... and what a party that will be!
Thank you for your time, please help yourself to some 'light' as you leave,
Namaste,
